God Loves Us All
DESCRIPTION
This painting is an experimental exploration of collective consciousness, created by Nkululeko Mahlangu in collaboration with children from the De Deur Dreamlands community during the Fields of Change Arts, Agriculture and Permaculture Residency. By preserving the children’s ideas, words, and even misspellings in their raw form, the work honors unfiltered imagination and challenges the notion that age defines wisdom, suggesting instead that insight is shared, fluid, and mutually learned.
Layered throughout the composition are universal religious and spiritual symbols, woven together with fragments of text such as “faith,” “rebirth,” and “God loves us all.” Rather than presenting a singular doctrine, the piece reflects a convergence of belief systems, pointing to a deeper, collective truth: that love, meaning, and connection exist across cultures, languages, and generations. The visual language; at once chaotic and intentional, mirrors the complexity of human thought while anchoring itself in a quiet, unifying message of divine presence within everyday life.
