Black Mabutho

Black Mabutho is a multidisciplinary self-taught street artist whose work spans a variety of artistic mediums. His creative journey began at an early age, and by the time he was 18, he had already begun developing the distinctive visual style that defines his work today.

Supported and inspired by family and friends, Mabutho’s passion for art has continued to grow throughout his career. He also draws inspiration from South African street and contemporary artists such as Victor Kuster and D’Bongz, with whom he recently collaborated on a series of murals along the Newtown Bridge in Johannesburg.

Mabutho’s murals can be seen across several parts of Johannesburg, including Maboneng, Jeppestown, Newtown, Glenesk, Sandton, and Alexandra, among others. Through his work, he aims to transform urban environments—bringing color, energy, and renewed life to spaces that may otherwise feel neglected or forgotten. His art reflects a deep pride in his city and a commitment to using creativity as a tool for community revitalization.
