Nativity in Decorated Calabash
DESCRIPTION
This is a handmade nativity set inside a decorated calabash with a star etched back, made by artisans in South Africa. The calabash is designed as shown depicting wise men traveling on camels following the star to the place where Jesus was born. Inside the calabash, a nativity scene was crafted with banana fiber to represent: Joseph, Mary, Baby Jesus in his crib, three wise men, three shepherds, and sheep. The Star-Etch Back can be removed from the gourd by unhooking the rubberband loops from the cowrie shells placed intricately on the side.
Carved with unique decorative details and a base for flat surfaces, this piece will make a great addition for decorations, collections, suitable as gift for your art/cultural enthusiast friends and family for any occasion. Made in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
