DESCRIPTION
The Djembe drum is a rope tuned goat skin covered drum played with bare hands and prominent in different west African cultures. Equipped with a handle, one drumhead, and adjustable stretched alpine ropes that were hand tightened using a nylon cord to ensure your drum stays tuned and remains stable over time. Made out of one solid piece of Mahogany wood, this handmade drum was designed to be both functional and decorative. The djembe drum produces loud and distinct quality sounds ranging from deep booming bass to high pitch tones for a wide range of melodies. Making it a very versatile solo instrument.
Djembe drums are quite popular in various music production systems and used in almost every west African ceremony/festival. The name “djembe” originates from Mali and means “everyone, gather together in peace” – hence highlighting the social & cultural purpose of this instrument.
